Individual Details
Joseph DIXON
(Abt 5 Apr 1780 - 5 May 1850)
Joseph is listed as one of the early settlers of Washington Twp. on Pg 440 in Beers 1880 History of Darke Co., OH. The first settler there is mentioned as arriving in 1816.

24 Feb 2015 I transcribed, word for word, the deed from heirs of Joseph Dixon to Henry Landers.
"Know all men by these presents that we John Dixon & Harriet his wife, Robert L. Dixon & Hannah his wife, George Thomas, Nancy his wife, Anna Dixon, Elizabeth Thomas, in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to each of us heirs of the Estate of Joseph Dixon late of Darke County, Ohio, dec'd, to us paid by Henry Landers of the State and County aforesaid as heir at law in the above estate; the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby bargain, sell and convey to the said Henry Landers his heirs and assigns forever, the following Real estate, viz: ..."
I copied the above to Judy Russell, The Legal Genealogist, and she agreed with me that the phrase "as heir at law" implies that Henry himself or in stead of his wife, is a legal heir of Joseph Dixon.
Henry bought property at Joseph's estate sale and the heirs of Joseph signed a deed to Henry as heir-at-law of Joseph's estate while he was married to Nellie. In Cedar Co., MO, Susannah Dixon was living next door to Henry and Nellie. Henry's brother Samuel married Mary Dixon, who could be a sister to Nellie, but why was she not involved in the deed from the Estate of Joseph to Henry Landers? Note that since Joseph didn't marry Susannah Creviston until Jan. 1830, she can't be the mother of most of his known children. Susannah was at least Joseph Dixon's third wife. Joseph was the only Joseph Dixon in early Darke County and there is one marriage to Nancy Ruple a few years before the one to Susannah Creviston.
Note that there was a Mary Dixon living with Susannah in 1850 census, along with Anna, but of course, relationships aren't shown. Mary had been added as a child based on the census, but that is tentative and subject to verification. It is also somewhat unlikely due to Susannah's age at Mary's birth. More likely she is a grandchild.
23 Feb 2015, a search of North Carolina marriage records from 1798 to 1820 has these two hits:

The first seems to be the most likely of the two, due to children born before 1810. Unless he moved and first wife died. NOTE: Dickson book indicates the Lincoln County Dicksons are definitely not my line.
