Henry Barfield

Henry had moved to South Carolina by 1766, as a deed dated 1 May 1766 declares him to be of the province of South Carolina (Sampson Co. Book 1, 206). He sells to his brother Jesse the plantation his father Richard had acquired in 1752 from Edward Outland and willed to him.

This Indenture made the first day of May Anno domin 1766 Between Henry Barfield of the Province of South Carolina Planter of the one part and Jesse Barfiedl of the County of Duplin and province of North Carolina Planter of the other part ---- that the said Henry Barfield for De-- good causes and consideration him thereunto moving but now especially for and inconsideration of the sum of Sixty Pounds current money of the State of North Carolina to him in hand well and truly paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt wwherof he doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied & content thereof and there from doth hereby acqent and discharge the said Jesse Barfield his --- Executor and admr. hath granted Bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these foresants doth for himself his heirs executors and administrators fully firmly and absolutely grant Bargain sell convey and forever confirm unto him the said Jesse Barfield his heir or assigns part of a tract or parcel of alnd situate lying and being in the county and province aforesaid, and on the W East swamp. Containing by estimation 100 acres be the same more or less it being part of a tract of land which was granted to Edward Outlaw by Patent bearing date September the 28th 1750, and made over by said Outlaw to Richard Barfield by deed of conveyance bearing date October 6 1752 and willed to said Henry by said Richard, including the plantation whereon the said Henry and Richard formerly lived.
