Birth

Elizabeth Putnam was baptised at Aston Abbots, Bucks, 20 Dec 1612, a daughter of John Putnam.[1] [2]
Salem Church event

She appeared on the 18 Jun 1643 list of communicants of the First Church of Salem, Massachusetts as "Eliza Putnam".[3]
Marriage

Nothing is known of Elizabeth Putnam; her assumed marriage to Nathan Gould/Gold (1614-1693) does not appear to have any sources. Torrey in "New England Marriages to 1700" says this about Nathan Gold's marriage, clearly not providing Elizabeth's surname:
GOLD, Nathan (-1693) & Elizabeth ____ (-1692+); by 1650, by 1659?; Salisbury[4]
Burial

It seems to be generally assumed that Elizabeth Putnam married a Bayley/Bailey and then Nathaniel Gould (or some similar spelling) but apparently no actual source for this has been found. Her FindAGrave memorial has no sources. No such marriage is found in Salem Vital Records for last names beginning with "P". No entry is found in Salem VR for a death; there is no apparent reason for the death date originally asserted on this profile of 24 Aug 1682.
Her niece Elizabeth Putnam, daughter of this profile's brother Thomas, did marry a Joshua Bayley according to the "Putnam History" book cited here, again without primary sources[1] perhaps leading to some confusion. This marriage does not appear in Salem Vital Records either. An Elizabeth Johnson married a Joshua Bayley in Haverhill, MA on 2 Apr 1715 but she was apparently the daughter of Joseph Johnson and Hannah, baptized 28 Feb 1680 at Haverhill so a different woman.

This profile needs lots of research...posted 12 days ago by Brad Stauf Anne BThere are three more children born to Nathan and Elizabeth, born between 1661 and 1675. None of them could be the children of Elizabeth Putnam. She was still single in 1643 at the ripe old age of 31, makes her a little old to even get married. and certainly was not having children 1661-1675. I have found nothing that says she married Nathan Gold/Gould. The mother (Judith) of Nathan (b 1614 ) left a will in 1650 and says that Nathan had children (didn't find online copy to check). But children before 1650 and children in 1675 just barely stretches to one wife and certainly not one born in 1612. I believe that Elizabeth Putnam should be disconnected from Nathan Gould and his children.
