===========================
On May 19, 2016, I drove past the site of John W Hatch's farm. He was right south of the Alfred Stewart farm so Ada lived right next to her family. After she died in 1895 he sold the farm and moved to Little Falls having lived there for 45 years when he died in 1939. The farm is on Highway 25 between Buffalo and Monticello right on the Buffalo Twp and Monticello Twp line. The Hatch farm was in Buffalo Twp and the Stewart farm was in Monticello Twp. Both home sites are probably the original house sights of the old farms. The land is flat and the soil looks good. Both are still farms today.
The 1879 plat of each twp shows the school house on the Alfred Stuart farm about 3/4 mile west of #25. It was School #4 and would have been where the Stuart and Hatch children were educated.
I have copies of the 1879 plat maps of these townships.
