Pinkney Pippin

Pinkney served in the CSA, 28th TN Infantry Regt. He surrendered, took the oath, and then served in the Union Army in the 13th TN Cavalry. He was wounded at Lick Creek, TN.

Pinkney made application for invalid pension on 8 Oct 1888 based on his Union service. His application stated that in Sept 1864 he received a gun-shot wound of the left shoulder at Lick Creek TN and in Oct he received a pistol shot in the left ankle. His wounds were painful, especially the one that broke his collar bone but he refused to go to the hospital as it was looked on as death to go there. Dr. S. B. Fowler, aged 38, of Gainesboro, Jackson Co TN had been a phsyician for 10 years - he examined Pinkney Pippin and found him to have had a gun shot wound on the left side just under the clavical and breaking the bone, leaving a bad deformitive. Pension was granted. He received $10 per month in 1990.

There was only one child.
