William Rice

William is said to have married 2nd to Esther Chounan, 21 Dec 1793, in Caswell. Before 1810, they moved to Wilson Co, TN. He is said to have died 1831 at age 78.

Dated 12 Mar 1818. William Rice Will. To wife Esther Rice, the plantation whereon his now lives and five Negroes: Abraham, Ned, Joseph, Hannah, and Sill. Also two beds & furniture, household & kitchen furniture, two work horses, all the farming tools, 4 cows & calves, 4 ewes & lambs and all the hogs and geese during her life or widowhood.
After wife's death, Negroes Dave & Betty to be given to first wife's children for them to divide.
To daughter Susanna, bed & furniture
To son Nathaniel, bed & furniture
To son James, a black horse known by the name of James's horse, a saddle, a cow & calf, half a dozen plates, a dish, a pot, a bed & furniture
To daughter Sarah a cow & calf, half a dozen plates, a dish, a pot, a bed & furniture
To daughter Esther a cow & calf, half a dozen plates, a dish, a pot, a bed & furniture
To daughter Rebecca a cow & calf, half a dozen plates, a dish, a pot, a bed & furniture
Any estate not mentioned to be sold and divided equally among his heirs.
At the death or intermarriage of wife Esther, 120 acres on the south side to be sold for as much as can be got and the money to be divided equally between my three daughters, Sarah, Esther & Rebecca.
The balance of the land to be equally divided between my two sons, Thomas & James.
The Negroes Abraham, Joseph, Hannah, and Sill, with their increase to be divided equally among my five children - Thomas, James, Sarah, Esther & Rebecca.
The furniture, farming tools, & all given to my wife to be sold and the proceeds divided equally among all my heirs.
Wife Esther, son Henry Rice and Thomas Telford to be executors.

The Will was presented in court, Sept Term last. The witnesses had removed to the State of Illinois. A commission was appointed to take their depositions which depositions were presented at this Court (Dec, 1831) and the will was deemed sufficiently proved. Henry Rice, one of the executors, is dead. Esther Rice & Thomas Telford refuse to take execution. John B. Puckett & James Rice were appointed Administrators.
