George Poindexter II
(Abt 1650 - 6 Jul 1737)
George was probably born in Jersey; possibly in England. Was with his father in VA in 1664. Tradition says brought with his father in 1657. Others have estimated his birth as 1660, some 10 years later.
1665. Uncle Peter Effard gave for love and affection, a 7-year-old cow to his "cousin" George Poindexter.
Date of marriage is based on birth of oldest child.
CAVALIERS & PIONEERS, Vol. III, p.168. Stephen Moone patented 178 acres in New Kent in St. Peter's Parish adj James Moss, Edwd. Asline & George Poindexter on Tonyhalin Swp. 23 Dec 1714.
p.362 Thomas Butts patented 258 acres in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co adj John Winfree, the Glebe land, on Discun & Rumley Marsh swamps; up Poindexter's Mill Run 27 Sep 1729.
The Poindexter book has the date of deaths for George II and his son reversed.
