Individual Details
John Poindexter
(Abt 1652 - )
Born perhaps in England. Was with his father in VA by 1664.
York Co VA Records, 1665-1672, Benjamin B. Weisiger III, 1987:
"1 Apr 1664 Peter Effard of Middletown Parish, York Co for love and affection to my young coz. Jno Poindexter, son of my coz. George Poindexter, a mare, and her foal to my coz. Elizabeth Poindexter."
He did not make clear that George and Elizabeth were brother and sister. Remember that cousin in this time frame referred to a niece/nephew - not as we use the term now.

p.199
Court held 24 Apr 1671 John Reade, servant to Mr. John Poindexter, adjudge age 17
Note: If John Reade was a servant to John Poindexter in 1671, likely John Poindexter was of age, or born at least prior to 1650.
Wife was Katherine on deed dated Jul 1689 to John Layton. Part of this land had been conveyed to John Poindexter by his father George Poindexter.
Found in "Colonial Granville": At a Court held for York County, [VA] February 24, 1686, Daniel Williams, Josias Stacey and John Poindexter did lett and publish their intentions of going for Old England, God Willing. [This would appear to be the only John Poindexter of the proper age to make this trip.]
