Elizabeth POINDEXTER

(Bef 1664 - )

Although the PDA maintains this is the Elizabeth that married George Hunt, I believe this to be an error. The Elizabeth who married George Hunt, 24 Aug 1709, St Peter's Parish, New Kent, was the daughter of George II and his wife Mary. They had children baptized and another daughter married at St. Peter's in a meaningful time frames.

Likely Elizabeth, daughter of George I, died young.

York Co VA Records, 1665-1672, Benjamin B. Weisiger III, 1987:
"1 Apr 1664 Peter Effard of Middletown Parish, York Co for love and affection to my young coz. Jno Poindexter, son of my coz. George Poindexter, a mare, and her foal to my coz. Elizabeth Poindexter."
He did not make clear that George and Elizabeth were brother and sister. Remember that cousin in this time frame referred to a niece/nephew - not as we use the term now. There is no other record of an Elizabeth between 1664 and 1709 - common sense says it is highly unlikely it would be the same person. Probability and high mortality rates would suggest the earlier Elizabeth did not survive to create records - not that she married for the first time in 1709, when she was at least 50 years old.
