Individual Details
Jacob Poindexter
(Abt 1687 - )
Married Sarah; had children William, Jacob, Henry. One of their sons may have been named Julius Caesar Poindexter. He is placed as a son of George III by the Pettits, but is listed as a son of George II in "Poindexters in America"; his age would not fit in the earlier generation.
Found in an Appendices to the Vestry Book of St. Peter's Parish is a letter to London, dated 7 Feb 1725/26, in which one of the complaints reads as follows,
"There's in this parish, one Jacob Poindexter who has, in a seeming marry'd relation, lived with his Brother's widow above 7 years and has several Children by her"
The only brother of Jacob whose wife is not otherwise named was his brother George. There is a death recorded in the Parish records of a George Poindexter who died 12 Mar 1716. If Jacob had been living with his brother's widow for seven years, since about 1719, it would appear that his brother George died at an early age.
