Tarboro - Mrs. Harriet Howard Holderness, 82, died at Edgecombe General Hospital here early Wednesday.
She was the widow of the late George Allan Holderness. She was born in Caswell County but moved to Tarboro at an early age and lived here all her life except for eight years spent in Richmond. she was educated at Peace Institute and Mary Baldwin College. she was a member of the Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were held this morning at the Howard Memorial Church.
Mrs. Holderness is survived by five sons, H. Dail Holderness of Tarboro, Admiral George A. Holderness of Washington DC, Howard, William Henry, and Thomas Holderness, all of Greensboro; two daughter, Mrs. William H. Transou of Greensboro and Mrs. Lee F. Davis of Richmond, VA; a sister, Mrs. W. T. Clark of Wilson; a brother, W. Stamps Howard of Tarboro; and 24 grandchildren.

Mrs. Harried Howard Holdernee, 82, died at Edgecombe General Hospital here early Wednesday.
The wife of the late George Allan Holderness, Mrs. Holderness was born in Caswell County and moved to Tarboro at an early age. she lived her entire life in Tarboro except for eight years spent in Richmond. Mrs. Holderness was educated at Peace Institute and Mary Baldwin College. She was a member of Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Holderness is survived by five sons, H. Dail Holderness of Tarboro, Admiral George A. Holderness of Washington, Howard, William Henry and Thomas Holderness all of Greensboro; two daughters, Mrs. William H. Trausou of Greensboro and Mrs. Lee F. Davis of Richmond, VA; a sister, Mrs. W. T. Clark of Wilson; a brother, W. Stamps Howard of Tarboro; 24 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 in the Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. The family requests no flowers be sent.
