1923 US Naval Academy Yearbook, Lucky Bag, "Biographies" has both a picture and article about George. The biographies include baby or toddler pictures and do no seem to be in any particular order. He is noted as being on the Track Squad years 4 & 3 and playing class Basketball, years, 4, 3, 2. He was a member of Star years 4 & 3.

Married 1937 to Mary LeGrand Clark of Elizabethtown, NC. Had 2 children. Graduated from US Naval Academy in 1923. In 1951 was a Rear Admiral.

...After the reception Lieutenant and Mrs. Holderness left for Louisville, KY, where they will attend the Kentucky Derby, after which they will sail for Bermuda from New York. After June 1, they will be at home in Pittsburgh, PA.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mrs. John Marvin Clark and the late Mr. Clark. She attended Salem College.
Lieutenant Holderness in the son of Mr. & Mrs. George A. Holderness of Tarboro. He was graduated from the United States Naval Academy, later doing work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Caregie Institute of Technology at Pittsburgh. He is now stationed at Pittsburgh, in the office of the inspector of naval materials.

21 May 1937. The Monarch of Bermuda sailed from Hamilton, Bermuda, on 19 May 1937, arriving in New York City on May 21st. I suspect this was the return of the Honeymoon. Listed as passengers were Lt. George A. Holderness, age 36, and Mary C. Holderness, age 24. He was born 1901 in Tarboro, NC - she was born 1913 in Elizabethtown, NC. Their home address was the Pennsylvania Apartments, in Pittsburg, PA.

Burial: Elizabethtown City Cemetery, Bladen Co, NC, as is his wife Mary.
