20 Dec 1794. William Cloud of Camden District to James Cloud of Chester County. For Fifty pounds sterling, sold 150 acres on waters of Fishing Creek, Craven County, now Chester County. Bounded on all sides when surveyed by vacant land. Granted to William Cloud, 3 Jun 1765. Also tract of 100 acres in Chester Co, South side Catawba River, granted to William Cloud 21 Feb 1772. Signed William Cloud. Witnesses: Anna Cloud, Joseph Cloud. Proved by Joseph Cloud, 21 Jan 1795.

I do hereby certify for Jas. Cloud a tract of land containing four hundred and ninety-seven acres (surveyed for him the 21st of November 1800) Situate in Chester district on the West side of Fishing Creek and hath such form and marks buttings and boundings as the above plat represents. 22 Jan 1816 Jane Cloud, Junr [this would be James's daughter] made oath that she saw James Cloud sign and acknowledge the bill of sale to William Cloud and Alezdr Horne was a subscribing witness. She also saw Mary Hicklin sign on the back of the said Bill of Sale, witnessed also by Elizabeth Boyd [probably Elizabeth Cloud Boyd, another daughter of James] for the hire of the sd Negroes. signed: Charles Boyd, JQ

24 Jan 1816. Bill of sale. James Cloud of Chester distrcit do for loving affection which I bear to daughter Sarah Hickling, deliver unto William Cloud as a Trustee for Sarah Hickling, a Negro Woman named Fan and another named Amy and her child Hannar with all their future increase. I put William Cloud in full and peaceable possession for the use of Sarah Hickling during her natural life and at her death to the heirs of her body. 24 Jan 1816. Signed: James Cloud.

30 Jul 1816 Hugh Hicklin of Chester District for the sum of $200 paid by James Cloud of the same have sold that tract of 126 acres on waters of Fishing Creek on the West side composed of several tracts surveyed for the Catawba & Wataree Company and conveyed to me by John F. Grimke, present of the same on 28 Jun 1813. Mentions boundaries of William Hicklin and John

17 Dec 1818 James Cloud of Chester District sell to James Cloud Hicklin and William Cloud Hicklin, Minors and children of my daughter Mary Hicklin, all the plantation whereon Alexander McKeown lately lived and there died, situate on Fishing Creek of the Catawba River, containing 150 acres. Specified in the deed from Hugh Hicklin to myself. My daughter Mary Hicklin is to possess the said land during her national life or given it up to the sd James Cloud Hicklin & William Cloud Hicklin (sons of Hugh & Mary Hicklin) at a time she may think proper. 15 Feb 1820 There being probability of the land being a sickly place probably too much so to raise a family on, I think it proper to make an amendement ...with consent of Mary Hicklin, my son William Cloud shall be empowered to sell the land and money rec'd to be laid out in land else where Mary Hicklin & William Cloud may deem proper and the deed to be drawn as above making the land to Mary and her two sons, James & Wm.
