Rev. James Brown
(18 May 1662 - 28 Oct 1732)
From 1705-1725 served almost continuously on the Providence town council, and from 1714-1718 was town treasurer. He was pastor of the First Baptist Church, first associated with elder Pardon Tillinghast, and later with Rev. Ebenezer Jenckes, succeeding Jenckes in the ministry in 1726 and remaining pastor until his death. This is the same church his grandfather, Chad Browne, served.
Will, proved 4 Dec 1732, mentioned widow Mary and the children as listed excepting John.
