NC Estate files contains a small file in Orange Co, NC for Sally Mitchell, 1837 - the only document in the file is a bond dated 24 May 1837 for William N. Pratt to administrate on the estate of Sally Mitchell in the amount of $10,000. The county is not stated but it was apparently from Hillsborough. John W. McGee, John Hutchins and Hugh M. Cave were bondsmen.

A second file for Sarah Mitchell, 1847, contains documents for a suit against William N. Pratt by Thomas S. Faucett and Caroline his wife. Caroline was the granddaughter of the late Sarah Michell who died at Chapel Hill in 1837, leaving a will filed May Term of 1837 - the executors refused to serve and William N. Pratt became administrator. Pratt was Caroline's uncle and was appointed her guardian. Several items including slaves were bequeathed to Caroline, and Sarah Mitchell's real estate was to be sold. Pratt did sell for $5000 which he still holds. Caroline and Faucett were married in January of 1845 and she will be 21 on the 27th of September next. They have frequently requested settlement of the estate. Caroline resided with her grandmother at the time of her death, after which she was placed in the family of her uncle Loftin K. Pratt until her marriage. Loftin died in 1846 and Wm N. Pratt refuses to settle because of an outstanding claim of the estate of L.K. Pratt for her board. She admits there was such a claim but it was unjust. (Loftin & William Pratt were brothers - so stated). William Pratt has failed to perform his duties as administrator - they are unable to discover the exact amount of the estate. He has never returned any guardian accounts.
The bill of complaint was dismissed by consent of parties. Defendant to pay costs.
23 Feb 1847.
