Westmoreland County, Virginia Records and Inventories, No. 3, 1752-1756. Inventory and Appraisement of John Rochester Deceased's Estate, which was recorded in Westmoreland County 3 February 1755.

In obedience to an order of court held for the said county the 26th day of November 1754, we whose names are under written being appointed by the said court to value and appraise the estate of John Rochester, deceased being first sworn before Richard Lee, General, one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said county have balued and appraised the same as followeth, Viz:
One bed of furniture...on same...one same..one same..one of same and one chest; Two chests...three chests..one desk..one oval table; one oval table..one safe..one case of bottle and nine flag chairs..one looking glass..a parcel of glass and earthen ware..two pare of dogs; two pare of fier tongs and shovel..one parcel of books and pare of Aillards; a parcel of caske two hundred gallons of cider and a parcel of leather; some shoe making tooles and a parcel of caske and one case of bottles; a parcel of tooles, one colker plow and a parcel of stone jogs, one bell and branding iron; a parcel of bottles and a parcel of nails, two broad hoes and unprient cotten; Some rict cotten and some working tools, some earthen ware and tallow; three meal siffers, one spice marker and a parcel of measures and other things; 40 good pewter, one coper hethe, some water vesels, one pot rack, spitt frying pans, one box iron and beakers, some lumber, sum spining wheals, seven bushels of salt, two cow hides and one sadle; two guns, sword and pistels, a parcel of cardes, one box of rifles, waring apparel; two Negro men named Peter and Fortune, one Negro boy named Parister; three Negro women, one Negro woman Hannay, one Jenne, one Judith, one Jacob; 1/2 yards frize and trimming. Bed of furniture; one pare of sheep shears, one paire of hinges, 2 pounds yarn and wool; show thread and some trifles. 2 sheep, eight cows and calves; six young cattle, four cows, one yoak of oxen cart and wheels and 31 geese; two horses, one mare and colt, 11 of feathers and 10 yards of white Lina, 3 1/2 yards check Linen, 5 yards grown linen and other cloth; 4 tt Gun powder, 12tt of led, 133 tt pott iron; one iron pesel and one gridle, sum old pewter, a parcel of old tubs and one cask; a parcel of knives and forks and sum thread; one pare of Band clasps and other things; two mill bags and two old bridles and sum trifles.

John Rochester was deceased before 29 August 1758, when his brother William was appointed guardian over his five minor children (one child, William, had died young). Esther was already remarried to Thomas Critcher and a commission was also appointed on that to date to settle the accounts of the estate of John Rochester for the benefit of Thomas Critcher in right of his wife and for each of the children.
