Individual Details

Margaret "Peggy" Haden

(Abt 1755 - 12 Sep 1818)

I doubt that she was 6 when she married. Either birth year of 1768 from Irene Cook or marriage date is wrong. Information indicates her son Benjamin b. 1776 in Rowan Co; he married 1797. I believe her birth year should be at least ten years earlier and I have adjusted the date accordingly

Margaret "Peggy" Haden born 1 Jan 1755 - quite possibly an estimate but 1755 would be more likely.

Margaret is probably the older woman living in the household with her son Benjamin and his wife Elizabeth, Union District, SC, 1800. She joined with them in deeding property on Thickety Creek in Union District, 28 Mar 1801.

Margaret moved to Tennessee about 1804 with her grandchildren.
She left a will dated, 12 September 1818, Giles County, Tennessee
She stated that her son Benjamin Stockton, was to have five shillings if he ever applied for it. Her personal property was to be divided evenly among the children of Elizabeth Stockdon [her grandchildren] - David, Duglis H., William, Josiah, Maraget, Lucinda and Smith. A small hankie was also to be given to Marget Stockdon. Signed: Marget L. Stockdon
Test: David Braiun, Zebulon Rainey, Sam'l Newton.
It is obvious that she did not recognize her grandchildren born to Sarah Williams Hall in the bigamist marriages of her son.
