This indenture made this twenty-ninth day of March in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred & twenty eight, between Peter Allen & Mary his wife of the county of Vigo and state of Indiana of the first part and Adeline Allen, daughter of the said Peter and Mary of the second part, witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, as well for & in consideration of the natural love and affection which they have and bear unto the said Adeline, as also for the better maintainance, support livelihood and preferment of her the said party of the second part, have given granted. aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do give, grant alien enfeoff & confirm unto the said party of the second part and to hir heirs and assigns all that certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying and being in the north west quarter of section
number twenty eight, in township number thirteen north of range number eight west, in the district of lands offered for sale at Vincennes and in the county aforesaid to wit: commencing at the south east corner of said quarter and and running north on the east line of said quarter one hundred and sixty rods, thence west on the north line eighty rods, from thence due south one hundred and sixty rods to the place of beginning, inclusive, containing eighty acres; together with all and singular the rights, encumbers and appurtenances whatsover thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining & the reversion and reversions, remainder & remainders, rents, issues & profits thereof, and also all estate, right, title, interest, property possession, claim and demand whatsoever of therein the said party of the first part of, in & to the said tract of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof with their appurtenances.
To have and to hold the said tract of land and all & singular of the premises hereby granted and confirmed, with their appurtenances, unto the said party of the second part her heirs and asignees, to her and their only proper use and behoof forever. And the said party of the first part, for themselves and theirs heirs, executors, and administrators, do covenant promise and agree to and with the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns that they are will seized of the premises hereby conveyed, as of a good, sure, perfect, absolute and indefeasible estate of inheritance in the law in fee simple and that the above granted & described premises unto the said party of the second part, they the said party of the first part, will forever warrant and defend.

Be it remembered that on this day to wit: the twenty seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine before me the subscriber, a Justice of the peace in and for said county personally came the with named Peter Allen & Mary his wife and acknowledged the within indenture to be their voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein contained: and the said Mary being examined by me separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed and sealed the said indenture freely without any coercion or compulsion from her said husband and having the contents of said indenture made known to her. Given under my hand and seal the day and year last above written.

Adaline's age was given as "57" in 1850 - should have been 37? The Warde book gives the year of her birth as 1814, 1812 is from the family record below which would make her only a year younger than her brother Peter. She was not in the 1860 census, Fred was the youngest child with B. M. Harrison and he was age 7.

Found on the Harrison Family Genealogy Forum at Genforum, posted 28 Oct 1999 by Susan I. Nelson:
Written on the back of photos that had belonged to Starr Nelson, a grandson of Britton and Adaline:
"Christmas 1919. To Starr Nelson from (Coz) Mrs. W. W. Adamson (nee Mollie Harrison), #1012 S. Sixth St., Terre Haute, Indiana."
Britton M. Harrison: "Grandfather Harrison, born in England, emigrated to Terre Haute Indiana and became a prominent and wealthy manufacturer of soaps, candles etc. He was the first mayor of the city of Terre Haute. Nov. 29, 1828, he married Adaline Allen, the daughter of peter Buell Allen (Father Moses Allen)."
Adaline Allen: "Grandmother Harrison, nee Adaline Allen. Born Nov. 20th, 1812, married Nov. 29, 1828, died June 30, 1857
