William Conquest "Bucky" Wyatt

(1796 - 6 Jan 1852)

Online databases give his father as Elijah Wyatt, b. 1765, Abbeville, SC and died 1850, Pike Co, Alabama, whose wife was Obedience, surname unknown. William apparently remarried in 1852 to Elizabeth Baggett - possibly the lady living with him in 1850.
FamilySearch.org had the date 6 Jul 1852.

Although his grave marker has a death date of 1852, there is an entry in the 1860 Mortality Schedule for Autauga Co - William Wyatt, died Apr 1860, age 61 (b. 1799) born in Georgia, occupation, planter. If he died as late as April, he should have been listed in the regular census but he was not. Perhaps the family got his death wrong, or there was another William Wyatt. The stone for William & Mariam states it was placed in 1952 so certainly was not done near the time this couple died.

There is a marriage in Autauga Co, AL for a William C. Wyatt, 2 Jul 1852, which appears to be after this man died. It was to Elizabeth Bagget. Married by Hardy S. Nelson. I suspect William married again and lived until 1860.

Said to be buried Chestnut Creek. Death dates for William & Miriam are said to be from

William C. (Bucky) Waytt and wife Mariam Wright Wyatt, moved to Alabama from South Carolina in 1814, settling in Pike County. They moved from there to Independence in Autauga County, later settling on the river near the mouth of Walnut creek. Jimmie Wyatt, a brother, settled near Big Springs in Autauga County, later, moving to Shiloh Community, five miles southwest of the present site of Clanton.

FindAGrave has very different parents for this William - and they are likely very wrong since a daughter was born to this couple the same year that William was born. FindAGrave claims an Elijah Wyatt, b. 1774 in Prince William Co, VA, died 1858 in Anderson Co, SC and his wife Mary Grigsby Foster as the parents. Names of siblings are very different from names found in the family of William Conquest Wyatt.
