At the time of the writing of his bio, he was operating an Independent Telephone Exchange at Thomasville, NC, with 550 telephone stations and a long distance business. He also owned the North State Telephone Company in High Point and investments in two other phone companies. He is said to have developed some automatic circuits, and a busy signal.

I searched for U.S. patents and found two for Jesse - one issued 19 Sep 1922 for a Telephone System and one issued 17 Mar 1925, #1,530,363 for a Chronophone (appears to be a circuit board). Sketches were provide.

He was noted to be a Democrat and a member of the Wesley Memorial Methodist Episcopal Chruch South.
