North Carolina Deaths:
Ada Malcom Lutterloh, died 16 March 1951, Butner, Granville, NC. Age 81 (born about 1870). Female, Married, Inmate. Parents names unknown. Residence said to be Moore Co, NC - that appears to have been where she was living when first admitted. She was institutionalized for over 50 years.

Dorothea Dix Hospital was a state psychiatric hospital on Dix Hill in Raleigh, named for mental health advocate Dorothea Dix. It was first opened in 1856 and was closed in the year 2012. A report of the State Hospital July 1924 - June 1926 was found online. At that time there were over 1300 inmates, about equally divided among males and females. A number of patients were there suffering from epilepsy and the prevailing cause of death was exhaustion from epilepsy. Two patients had committed suicide and there had been only one escape during the two year period. The report contained a good deal of detail for the patients who had been admitted during that two years. There was a chart of the years spent in the hospital for those who had died during 1924-1926 - one person had been a resident for 40 to 50 years, one from 30 to 40 years, and 9 had been there for 20-30 years prior to their deaths.

Dr. Isaac Hayden Lutterloh, b. 19 Sep 1895, died 29 Feb 1988, Lee County, NC. He is also buried Buffalo Cemetery with wife Blanche, b. 16 Aug 1906, d. 23 Jan 1981.
