William Marvin Jarrell, 57, of 1112 Ferndale Blvd., died Monday, April 28 at High Point Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for 14 years and seriously ill for five years.
Mr. Jarrell was born in High Point on April 30, 1911, a son of Thomas Marvin and Esther Kirkman Jarrell. On August 30, 1934, he was married to Miss Margaret Hayden.
He was educated in the High Point City schools, High Point college, receiving an A.B. degree, and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Law School, Chapel Hill, receiving an LLB degree. He practiced law in High Point from 1935 until his health failed. He was a former president of the Industrial Finance Co., former partner for many years in the southern Motor co., and director of the North State Telephone Co. He built the Furniture City Motel and Restaurant. He was a member of Emerywood Country Club, the Sedgefield Hunt Club and the American Business Club. He was a birthright Quaker of the High Point Friends Meeting.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret H. Jarrell, of the home; one son, William M. Jarrell, Jr., of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jarrell Thomson of Tallahassee, Fl,; one grandson; two sisters, Miss Annie Lee Jarrell of 119 Lindsay St., and Mrs. Ruth Jarrell Hoover of 1011 Wickecliff Dr.; five brothers, Harriss H. Jarrell, Joe Jarrell, Charles Jarrell, and Dr. Howard Jarrell, all of 119 Lindsay St., and Dr. Harold Jarrell of 1010 Wickecliff Dr.
Funeral will be held Wednesday at High Point Friends Meeting House by Cecil E. Haworth. Burial will be in Springfield Friends Cemetery.

HIGH POINT - Funeral for Joseph Pernell Hollingsworth, 81, of 1110 Forest Hill Drive, who died Monday, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.
A native of Louisburg, he was the former owner of American Motors in High Point and of Toyota dealerships in High Point, Statesville, Winston-Salem and Wilmington. He was a member of the String and Splinter Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross, American Business Club and the Exchange Club and was past president of High Point Auto Dealers. He was a member of Emerywood and Willow Creek country clubs and High Meadows Country Club in Roaring Gap.
Surviving are Margaret Hayden Jarrell Hollingsworth; daughters, Mrs. Noel Faulkner of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Nancy Stevens of Greensboro; stepdaughter, Mrs. Margaret Herke of Denton; son, Thomas R. Hollingsworth of Granby, Mo.; stepson, William Jarrell of High Point; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.
The family will be at Sechrest East Lexington Avenue Funeral Home 5-7 p.m. today.

HIGH POINT - Mrs. Margaret Hayden Hollingworth, 81, of 1110 Forest Hill Dr. died Oct. 31, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by Dr. C. Garland Young and the Rev. Ivan H.M. Pedan. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Ave. until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917 in High Point, the daughter of Jesse Franklin and Velva Green Hayden. She was a member of the DAR and Junior League. She was a former member of the board of directors of North State Telephone Company and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was twice married, first to William Marvin Jarrett who died in 1969, and in 1970 she married Joseph Hollingworth, who died in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Herke and husband, John of High Rock Lake; a son, William M. Jarrell, Jr. of the home; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Harman of Burlington; and three grandchildren, William Jarrell III of Greensboro, Meredith Jarrell of Snow Camp and Jesse Hayden Jarrell of High Point.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Ave.

Services will be private.
Mr. Jarrell was born May 15, 1941, in High Point, a son of William Marvin Jarrell Sr. and Margaret Hayden Jarrell Hollingsworth.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Catherine Morton Jarrell of the home; one daughter, Ms. Meredith Lynn Jarrell of Snow Camp; two sons, William Marvin Jarrell III of Greensboro and Jesse Hayden Jarrell of the home; and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Jarrell Herke and husband, John of High Rock Lake.
