Capt. Edward Dexter

Edward, fourth son of Stephen Dexter died many years before the death of his nephew Moses who had inherited Edward's father's estate through primogeniture. Moses died in 1825 without issue, his estate descending to his cousins.
Edward's children were Susan, Stephen, Abigail, and Edward [who filed the suit for settlement], and only Edward and Stephen were living. Susan died without issue. Abigail died in the liftetime of Moses but had married Ephraim Comstock, having children Ephraim and Abigail. Ephraim, her son, was living in 1825. Abigail, the daughter, was also dead, but she had issue, Thomas and Abby Fosdick who were living.
Dexter Genealogy states that Edward had his home near the present toll-gate of the Pawtucket turnpike. He was the master of a ship. He perished at sea in January, 1770.
