Ms. Tant, descendant, dicovered John Haden's 200-year-old Bible in her father's childhood home. The children listed here have birthdates recorded in the Bible.

There is a record of a Pamela Emily Haden who married Wesley Shelton 23 Feb 1818 in Pittsylvania Co, surety provided by John Haden. She is listed by Staci Haden as a daughter of John, but if she was a daughter of John and Susanna, it is very strange that her birth was not also recorded in the Bible. Was she perhaps a daughter of the Anthony D. Haden, also living in Pittsylvania Co at the time - if so she did not live long enough to be included in the application for his pension made by Anthony's widow and children.

From Pittsylvania Co VA

Mar 1813 Order Book 11, p.477 James Morgan, assignee of Anthony D. Haden, plaintiff, vs. William H. Haden and John Sr., defendants. Case dismissed by plaintiff.

19 Feb 1814 Deed Book, 19, p.145 Anthony D. Haden & wife Patsy of Town of Competition sell to John Haden Sr. for $200. Tract part of tract conveyed by Samuel Parsons to Anthony D. Haden. 47 1/2 acres, bounded by Anthony D. Haden's line, David Parsons' line, Allen & Clark's lines. Wit: William Hold, Samuel Setts, Thomas O. Meux. Signed by Anthony and wife Patsy.

15 Aug 1814 Order Book 16, p.272 Richard Johnson & William Terry vs. William Haden, surviving obliger of William H. Sims & William Haden. John Haden comes into court and undertakes for the defendant [goes bond]. William agreed the case was just; he owed 8#'s 4sh and agreed to pay the same day.
[Ms. Tant states that John Haden also undertook for Anthony D. Haden but dosen't explain further.]

21 Nov 1815 Deed Book 19, p.305 Henry Sanders to John Haden for $200. 50 acres south side Whitethorn Crk, Payne's & Johnson's lines, Vincent Shelton's lines, Stephen Shelton's line, to Payne's line. Wit: William Ferguson, Anthony D. Haden, Josiah White.
Vincent & Stephen Shelton were probably sons of Armisted, a son of Crispen & Letitia Shelton. The 1820 census shows Armisted Shelton on the same page with Anthony D. Haden; Stephen on the same page with John Haden.

7 Dec 1816 Deed Book 21, p.74 John Haden Sr. to William Payne Sr. for $200. 50 acres bounded by Stephen Shelton, Vincent Shelton, James Johnson & William Payne Sr., land Haden purchased of Henry Sanders [see above]. Wit: William P. Tart, William Payne Sr., William Haden

1820 Census: Pittsylvania Co VA
John Haden: 1m -10, 1m 16-18, 2m 16-26 [James was age 16; John may have been still living at home], 1m over age 45 [John]. 1f age 26-45, 1f over age 45 [Susanna]
William Haden [son already in his own household as he had married in 1816]: 1m -10, 1m 26-45, 1f -10, 1f 16-26.
Anthony D. Haden was also in Pittsylvania Co in 1820 [Anthony died in 1829]: 1m -10, 1m 16-18, 2m 16-26, 1m over 45. 1f -10, 2f 10-26, 1f 16-26, 2f over age 45.
Daughter Molly had married Dudley Shelton and they are also in the 1820 census in Pittsylvania Co: Dudley Shelton, 1m 26-45, 2f -10, 1f 26-45.

1830 Census:
John Haden Sr: 1m 20-30, 1m 60-70. 1f 10-15, 1f 60-70
John Jr. & William were also present. I did not find any listing for Anthony's widow & family although they should have been there.

1840 Census:
John Haden: 1m 70-80, 1f 10-15, 1f 70-80.
[John Jr was not listed and may have been in Missouri based on information from the 1850 census. Sons James and William and Lewis, oldest son of William, were on this census in 1840. There was also another James Haden, age 20-30. He was in a different district in the county and had three small children under age 5, his apparent wife also listed as age 20-30. I do not know who this James could be unless he's part of the family of Anthony D. Haden (No James was listed as a child in the pension app), or possibly a son of John Jr.]
