Researcher Staci Haden states that Susanna Roach was born in New Kent Co VA, daughter of John Roach and Sarah Williamson.

The following pension file reveals that Susanna likely had brothers James and John - James was married to Mary Barrett in Aug of 1792.

On 17 Sep 1832, James Roach, a resident of Camden Parish, Pittsylvania Co, age 70, made application under the Act of Congress, 7 Jun 1832. He was born in Charlotte Co, VA and drafted at age 16. In Mar 1781, he was marched from Charlotte under Capt. Davenport and Lt. Spencer by the Prince Edward Court House across the James River at Carters Ferry to Fredericksburg, VA, then to Raccoon Ford, Rapidan River in Orange Co, VA. They joined the army commanded by Gen. Wayne and the Marquis de la Fayette. He was detailed to guard a magazine in Louisa Co. He served three months. In July he was drafted again and marched to York Town where Cornwallis surrendered.
John Haden Sr., William Dove & John Neal, all of Pittsylvania Co. swore that James Roach was 70 and had been a soldier in the Revolution.
9 Aug 1832, Wiltshire Cardwell of Charlotte Co VA, testified he had served with James Roach. John Roach of Charlotte Co VA, testified that James Roach, his brother, marched twice in the service of Revolution, dated not recalled.
17 Apr 1849, Mary Roach, age 77 or 78, made application, W5727. She married James Roach in August of 1792, married by the Revd. Mathew Bates. James Roach died in May of 1846. She was not married to him before he left the service but she was married before 2 Jan 1800.
20 Apr 1849, John G. Barrett of Pittsylvania Co, testified he was at the marriage of James Roach to his sister Mary Barrett when he was a small boy.
9 Apr 1855. Mary made application for Bounty Land. Her husband received a pension during his lifetime, and she is still on the pension rolls.
