Thomas Hardin Perkins

(3 May 1757 - 15 Nov 1838)



Thomas Hardin Perkins was commissioned an Ensign in the 6th VA Regt on 21 Mar 1776 and promoted to 2nd Lt and then 1st Lt by 15 Apr 1777. His pension is S3680 at the National Archives. He was in Orange Co NC as evidence by deeds from 1782 to 1803 when he moved to join some of his siblings in Williamson Co TN.
Note: most of his service records can be found on Fold3 and the name is "Hardin Perkins" on the cards.

Thomas married Mary Magdalena O'Neal on 17 Dec 1778.

Pittsylvania Co Land Tax Lists, 1782 Hardin Perkins, 370 acres.
I believe this to be the correct man, although he is listed as Hardin Perkins - His brothers Peter, Nicholas, and Constantine all owned land in Pittsylvania Co at this time.

Ambler Esq, Treasurer of this Commonwealth in the sum of Ten Thousand pounds Current Money.         May 21, 1783
The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bound John Owen do shall, will and Truly Collect, Account for and pay unto the Treasurer according to Law, all the Taxes from each and every Taxable person and article within the County imposed byvirtue of an Act of the General Assembly.

p.223 16 Nov 1800 Parental affection towards our nephew and son-in-law Nicholas Perkins Junr. Who has intermarried with our daughter Elizabeth Perkins. Thomas H. Perkins & Mary Magdalene Perkins, wife of said Thomas Harding Perkins of Orange Co NC. Give to Nicholas Perkins Junr tract formerly will's to said Thomas H. Perkins by his father Nicholas Perkins, the Goose Pond tract in Pittsylania Co joining the lower end of Constant Perkins dec'd land on West, Country line on the South, the Dan River on the North. Another tract joining to the Country line & Goose Pond Land bounded on South by the Country line, North by lines of Goose Pond tract to the lower end. One tract joining the lower end of said tracts bounded on West by Goose Pond Tract & Dan River on the North., being all land held between the South side of Dan & the Country line. 530 acres.
