Charles and family were in Rowan Co NC in 1765 on a tract that was part of his father-in-law's land - an area which became Guilford and then Rockingham Co. An obituary of his child Nicholas Tate Perkins, stated that he was born in Guilford Co in December of 1767 and moved with his parents to Pittsylvania Co VA when he was age ten [1777].

A Charles Perkins was a private and clerk in the Company of Capt Zebulin William during the Revolution - this is not proved to be the same Charles Perkins.

His widow was paying taxes in Patrick Co VA in 1791 - the year in which Patrick Co was formed out of Henry Co.
