William Waddill

(2 Aug 1720 - )

Southside Virginia Genealogies states that this is the same William Waddill, head of household in Halifax Co VA in 1782 and 1785. Certainly his brother Noel seems to have been there.

Cabell states that this William was reared in Charles City Co and was living there as late as 1757. He married prior to 1744, a lady named Ann in a deed to Edward Miller in Mary of that year. He seems to have had one son that reached maturity - a Samuel, b. about 1745, who married Lucy Christian. Samuel was executor for his brother-in-law, Samuel Christian, in 1780. Samuel's funeral expenses were paid 10 Oct 1785, according to the settlement of his estate 18 Jun 1795. Lucy subsequently married Gideon Bradley but his will in 1801, shows that she had already died.

Samuel Waddill and Lucy had sons Edmund, born about 1775. His will dated 19 Oct 1833, recorded 29 Feb 1834, names as guardian of his children, George C. Waddill.
A second son, Richard, was placed under the guardianship of his first cousin, Richard, son of Richard. He was a minor in 1798, but of age in 1801 which indicates he was born 1778 or 1779. He himself died before 1819, leaving children Rebecca, Lucy, and William H. Waddill.
Son William is said to have left Charles City, making his home near Danville [Pittsylvania Co].
