Joseph Henry Pippin
(19 Jun 1832 - 9 Jun 1888)
Joseph was 21 when his father died in 1853 - He inherited 200 acres of farm land (former Theophilus Cherry tract). Joseph married Sarah Elizabeth Cherry, daughter of Maj. Lunsford Rhodes Cherry on 25 Oct 1852 in Edgecombe Co. The family is on the 1860 census, Edgecombe Co.
Joseph enlisted in Company I, 7th Confederate Cavalry, Tarboro, NC 12 Jul 1862. Six of his brothers also served; two of them, Cullen and Flavius, died in the war.
Joseph Henry Pippen died in 1888 at age 56. Following his death, his wife removed to Baltimore with their daughter Mary who would marry dentist Dr. Ryland Otey Sadler of Rocky Mount, who had a practice in Baltimore. She died there sometime after 1924
Joseph & Sarah Elizabeth are buried at the Enfield Cemetery, Enfield, Halifx Co, NC.
