James married Zerelda Clements, 8 Jun 1881, Boone Co IN. she was born 27 May 1862, died 3 Mar 1918.

In the Harmon surname file at the Lebanon Library is what appears to be a clipping from a newspaper. There is no date. From the article it is evident that James M. Harmon of Eagle township, is running for the office of county treasurer on the Republican ticket. He was at that time, 47 years of age, dating the article as 1906. He was the father of eight sons, all living, from age 1 to 18 years. Mr. Harmon lived 4 and 1/2 miles southwest of Zionsville on his farm of 179 acres. He was the son of the late James D. Harmon, commonly known as Jay Harmon. Mr. Harmon has never before held office. He was the nominee of the Republican party for county auditor eight years earlier was was defeated by David H. Shockley. "If he shall be elected, and all evidence points in that direction, he will make a worthy and efficient official."

Zerelda, wife, 46, 8 children - all living [there were others - at least 13 - I have identified 12 children, but she said in 1900 that 5 had died and I only found 4 that had died before 1900.]

There is a photo on an Ancestry family tree, said taken 1910, that does indeed show the eight children Son Dare at about age four is still in a dress as was the custom.

24 Jul 1914. Last Will and Testament of James M. Harmon
I James M. Harmon of Eagle Township, Boone County, State of Indiana, being of full age and sound mind, make this my last will and testament. After the payment of just debts, I give and bequath my estate and property as follows:
First Item: I give and bequeath to Zerrelda Harmon my wife, after the just debts are made and suitable monument erected to my memory, all of my personal property and real estate during the time she remains my widow; if my wife should remarry again, my property is to be divided according to the laws of the state.
I appoint Ernest A. Harmon of Eagle Township, Boone County, State of Indiana, as executor of my ths will.
In witness whereof I have signed, published and declared this instrument as my last will, on this 24 day of July 1914:

The foregoing instrument was signed, declared and published by the testator James M. Harmon as his last will and testament in the presence of the undersigned, who in his presence and in the presence of each other at the request of said testator, have signed our names as subscribing witnesses to said will.

James Marion Harmon died 11 April 1915 of acute sepsis - he had a spinal tumor & gangrene. He died, Eagle Twp, Boone Co. He was married, his wife Zerelda Harmon. Born 21 Apr 1859 in Indiana. He was a farmer. Parents listed as James D. Harmon & Martha Cooper, both born in Indiana. Zerelda Harmon was the informant. He was buried April 13th, Salem Cemetery.

Zerelda L. Harmon of Eagle Twp, Boone Co IN, died 3 Mar 1918 of cancer of the right breast. She was the widow of James Harmon, born 23 Mar 1862 in Indiana. Her father was William Perry Clements; her mother Mary Clements, both born in Kentucky. The informant was Ernest Harmon of Zionsville (son). Buried Salem Cemetery on March 5th.
