Archibald W. Thomas
(Jul 1830 - Aft 1900)
Date given for marriage is the Bond date. Archibald W. Thomas to Susan Ann Williams. John W. Armes, bondsman.
In 1850 Archibald was living in Pittsylvania Co VA with his young wife Ann. his occupation was Farmer; value of his real estate was $2000.
Arch. W. Thomas, age 34, widowed, Farmer, son of Nathaniel & Rebecca Thomas married Nancy W. Haraway, age 20, single, daughter of Samuel and Sarah Haraway.
Apparently Archibald also had a marriage between Susan Ann and Nancy. In the 1860 Census, still in Virginia, he was age 30, with Rebecah H. age 28, James T. 8, Caroline W. [Carrie] age 1. Lewis Hall, age 17, a Labourer, was living with the family. The slave schedule shows A. W. to have one female age 60, and three male slaves, ages 50, 31, and 8.
I found the marriage on FamilySearch - in Virginia Marriages, 1785-1940. Arch. W. Thomas, age 27 of Pittsylvania Co, married Rebecca H. Richardson, age 26, of Mecklenburg County, on 17 Mar 1857, in Mecklenburg. His parents were Nathaniel & Rebecca Thomas; hers were Robt. & Caroline Richardson. He was widowed, she was single.
1870 Census. Pittsylvania Co VA.
Archer W. Thomas, age 39, Farmer, b. VA. Nannie W., age 26. James F., age 17. Caroline W. age 11. Price age 2.
1880 Census. Dan River District, Pittsylvania Co VA. Hh 297.
A. W. Thomas, age 49, b. VA. Nannie W., wife, age 35. Carrie W., age 21, daughter, teaching school. Price N., age 12, son, works on farm. Ada B., age 5, daughter. Junius P., age 4, son.
By 1900, the only trace I found of the family was:
In Danville, living as a Boarder with Edward M. White:
Price N. Thomas, age 32, b. VA, horse trader/trainer [can't tell which]. He was born June, 1867, and has been married 10 years. Wife was Nannie L., age 26, b. Sept 1873. They had no children.
Then I did find in the Dan River District, Pittsylvania Co VA, Hh 197
Archer W. Thomas, b. Jul 1830, 69 married 35 years, Farmer
Nannie W., wife, b. Jun 1844, 55, 6 Children - 2 are living
