Salathiel Pippin

(Abt 1784 - Bef 1870)

Salathiel moved to Robeson Co NC before 1810 where he was counted in the Census. He served during the War of 1812 as a private in Capt. McPhatter's Company of Infantry, 3rd Regt [Moore's] of the NC Militia.

His last record in Rebeson Co was a sale of land in 1826. In 1840 his family was enumerated in Lee Co GA but they moved to Alabama, Barbour Co, soon after that census. They then moved to Early Co GA where he is counted in the 1850 Census, age 70. In 1860 they were in Dale Co AL - he still gave his age as 70.

Salathiel's first wife's name is unknown. There were four children: Mary, and three sons, Calvin, Salathiel Solomon, and Enoch. Then he married (2) a Mary who was about the same age as the first daughter. Salathiel & Mary had five children: John, Etna, Elias, Griffin, & Martha.
The birth years given for the children lead to some speculation about wives. Mary was born 1809, Calvin in 1811. Then Salathiel Solomon was not born until 1823. Enoch was born in 1833. Either there were children who died or perhaps other wives. The 2nd wife Mary's children were born as follows: John in 1841, Etna in 1842, Elias in 1843, Griffin in 1846 & Martha about 1847.
