Blue River--Mr. Clyde J. Carpenter, age 77, died Saturday, March 4, 1978 at the Boscobel Memorial hospital after a long illness. He was born in Rewey, Wisconsin, November 30, 1900. Mr. Carpenter spent many years as a butter maker, and the last 20 years before retirement in 1963, he was the manager of the Borden Plant, Blue River. He was a member of the United Methodist church, Blue River, the Masonic Lodge no. 70 F&A.M. of Muscoda, the Laurel Chapter of the O.E.S., Muscoda and a charter member of the Southwest Wisconsin Past Patrons Club. He was married to Helen Wilkinson of Muscoda, December 29, 1926. Survivors are his wife, Helen; two daughters, Mrs. John (Betsey) Berry of McFarland, Mrs. Jerry (Nell) Schell of Blue River; a son, Clyde J. (Bud) Carpenter of Madison; four sisters, Mrs. Nora Christensen, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Gard both of Platteville, Frances Carpenter of Rewey, Mrs. Amy Nevlin of California, nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Blue River, with Reverend Marlin Brownell officiating. Burial will be in the Muscoda cemetery, and friends may call at the Godager Funeral Home Tuesday 5-9 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. and Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Blue River.
