Nancy Ellen was born 18 August 1860 in Lima Township, Grant County, Wisconsin, and died 17 September 1934. She married Charles George Martin, a farmer, on 11 November 1880 at Galena, Illinois. He was born 26 July 1858 at Montello, Wisconsin, and died 10 May 1914 at his home in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. They are buried at the Arthur Cemetery, Lima Township, Grant County, Wisconsin. They were Methodists. (Nancy Ellen preferred to use and often did use the name of Ellen N. Martin, out of spite against an aunt who had forced her to take caster oil against her will.)

There were nine children born of the marriage.
