Virgil was born 18 August 1884 and died 19 July 1962. He married Blanche Helgrin of Florence, Wisconsin, on 18 August 1920.

He was born Aug 18, 1884, in Rewey, where he received his education. He served in World War I, first enlisting the National Guards and then serving with the Army. He spent 15 months overseas with the 101st ammunition train. His marriage to Blanche Helgren took place in Fort Atkinson on Aug. 18, 1920.
A building contractor by trade, he retired five years ago. He had been a resident of this community since 1919. He was a member of the First Methodist church and its board of directors, Billings Lodge No. 139, F and AM; Martha chapter No. 66 OES; Paul Frank Florine Post No. 166 American Legion and the World War I Barracks No. 2099.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, David of Minneapolis, Minn., and John, Whitefish Bay; a daughter, Patricia, now Mrs. Robert Soderholm of Villa Park, Ill.; two brothers, Leo, Santa Cruz, Calif., and Ruscal, Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Stephens and Mrs. Raymond James, Rewey, and Mrs. Horner Heffron, Madison; and five grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist church with the Rev. Roy Steen, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Royal F. Hayes funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Saturday with military graveside rites by the Paul Frank Florine post. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
