The Current Local, Van Buren, Missouri, July 22, 2004: Bertie Collins Dies July 13. Resident of Walton Chapel Area. Bertie Mae Collins, 87, of Ellsinore (Walton Chapel) died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, in Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mrs. Collins was born Feb. 19, 1917, at Rombauer and was a longtime resident of Ellsinore. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed serving the Lord by quilting for the church and teaching Sunday School lessons. She was a retired nurse and formerly worked at Doctors Regional Medical center in Poplar Bluff. She also enjoyed traveling. On June 26, 1937, she married Frank "Buck" Collins in Venice, Ill., and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy Arnold of Ellsinore and Mary Lynne Hall of Woodlawn, Tenn.; one son, Edward Collins of Ellsinore; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral was held on Saturday, July 17, at the Assembly of God Church in Ellsinore with the Rev. James Bolin officiating. Burial was in Walton Chapel Cemetery, with arrangements by McSpadden Funeral Home.
