David D Kirkpatrick

David Kirkpatrick was born in 1841 in Arkansas, the sixth child of Edmund Singleton and Anna Barnett (Woodrome) Kirkpatrick. David enlisted in the Confederate Army as a private in the Seventh Arkansas Infantry. During the course of his service he was promoted to sergeant. According to war records, David was 5 feet 11 inches tall and had dark hair and a dark complexion. In 1865, at the end of the Civil War, he was paroled and discharged at Jacksonport, Arkansas.

David was married twice. His first marriage was to Marriah (or Marrick) Lawrence, who was the young widow of J. H. Sullivan. She had a son, Franklin, by her first marriage. David and Marriah had three children before she died about 1870. David married again, shortly after Marriah's death to Margaret King, daughter of James and Mary Ann King of North Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas. They had a family of four children. David died about 1888.
