James Edward Kirkpatrick, so often called Edmond, was born 10 December 1874 in Independence County, Arkansas, and died 17 July 1950 in Newport, Arkansas. He is buried in the Sand Hill Cemetery there with two of his children. He married Ruanna ("Annie") Lacks, daughter of Eli C. and Belva (James) Lacks. Annie was born 13 November 1874 and died 26 July 1909. She is buried in the James Cemetery in Cedar Grove, near Batesville, Arkansas.

There were six (6) children born of the marriage.

Newport---James Edmond Kirkpatrick, 74, retired farmer, died here yesterday. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Ernest Kirkpatrick, Newport; three daughters, Mrs. T. N. Ray and Mrs.Simmons, Newport, and Mrs. John Easley, Nettleton; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Newport Funeral Home Chapel today by the Rev. Chas. F. Wilkins, pastor the First Baptist Church, Newport, and T. H. Sherrill, Church of Christ minister. Burial will be in the San Hill Cemetery.
