Notes
Birth
Most probably Joseph was born in Philadelphia county along the Perkiomen Creek area. John, Joseph's father was taxed two times in 1779 in the Perkiomen Creek area. It is believed that Joseph and Mary were living with Mary's family, who's children had farms in that area.Census
Coheen John household; two males between 16 and 25; one male over 45; one female between 16 and 25; one female over 45.Marriage
Presbyterian Church, Marriage by William Stuart.Baptism
Joseph was baptised as an adult by William Stuart.Census
Joseph household had 2 males under 10, and two males 26 to 45 years old, and 1 female under 10, and 1 female between 16 and 26. This does not agree with the family composition. The neighbors are not consistant with the neighbors around the Rock Springs Farm.Religion
Joseph Goheen applied for a church pew at the annual meeting held on March 20th. Rev. William Stuart was the part time minister, sharing his duties with the Sinking Creek Church. The Spring Creek Church was on the Slab Cabin Branch of Spring Creek where a log building without windows was where they worshipped. After Rev. Stuart retired in 1834 several ministers had short tenure until Rev Robert Hamill took over the ministery of the Spring Creek Church. Several of the descendants of Joseph were named Robert Hamill obviously after the minister of the church. Joseph's son, David Rittenhouse, was baptized by Rev. Stuart on 20 May 1810. The Goheen presence in this church continued into the 20th century. William Murray Goheen was an elder of the church for many years and was presented a communion cup that was used until individual cups became into use.Property

Census
Joseph family consisted of 2 males under 10, 1 male and 1 female between 10 and under 16, 1 male and 2 females between 26 and under 45. One person engaged in agriculture. This agrees with the known family composition, considering that Mary, Joseph's sister is also living with the family. The neighbors are consistant with the families around the Rock Springs farm.Census
Listed family Joseph Coheen, 1 female under5, 1 female between 5 and under 10, 1 male between 10-15, 1 male and 1 female between 15-20, 1 male between 20-30, and one male and 1 female between 20-30, 1 male between 50-60 years old. The single male over between 50 and 60 years old may have been Mary Jane's father because in the 1820 census Robert Gardner was a neighbor and now his is not listed as a neighbor. The two people 1 male and 1 female between 20-30 years old is probably David and his new wife Sarah.Property
