MALCOLM COREY

(1842 - )

Malcolm is found in the Southampton 1861 census, farming at Temperance Vale in close association with Gardner Corey. On later census returns for Temperance Vale there is no reference to Malcolm or his family. He is believed to have settled a few miles north of Temperence Vale on the Nackawic River, in an area known as Bear Island.

He is said to have left his wife and family about 1875, and removed to Bangor ME, where he remarried.

Bessie Ryan was of Cork County in Ireland. She remarried in Bear Island after 1875, left with a large and young family. She m (2) Hugh Mooers, and had six more children, for a grand total of thirteen.

The family of Coreys that Malcolm left behind remained in the Bear Island area, and many descendanta are still to be found there today.
