BIOGRAPHY: In 18 62 he enlisted in the Union Army and was a member of t he Morgan Towns hip Militia. He was listed as a farmer and 37 years of age at t hat t ime. Obituary: "On the 25th of May, 1876, of Consumption, Hardin Quer ry of ? township, aged 51 years. The deceased was born in Hardin Cou nty Kentucky in 1824, and in the year 1833 his father moved to Decatu r County, Indiana wher e he resided till 1848, when with his brother D aniel, he moved to Owen County, and located near where he died. It wi ll thus be seen that he has been a citize n of this county for many ye ars. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn h is loss. Decease d was a man of spotless character, honest, genorous and kind i n all h is dealings with his fellow man; and as a neighbor and citizen he ha d no superior and but few equals. The deceased was for many years a m ember of the M .E. Church and much of the time an official member; hi s house has been the home of the minister and his greatest pleasure w as to make all around him happy and comfortable. The community in wh ich he lived will ? his loss with deep sorrow and none more than th e writer of this brief note (?) who has lived a neighbor to him for 2 5 years. J.L.M."
