John Thomas Query

BIOGRAPHY: In 1878, he and his siblings were orphaned when their mothe r died. John, and sisters Nancy and Lou Della, took a train to their A unt and Uncle's, Eli and Dove (Cassida) Lyon's home in Missouri. In 1 888 there was a double wed ding - John married Addie Moore, and Anna C assida married S. G. Jordoan. John and Addie moved to the Oklahoma (I ndian) Territory. They participated in the C herokee Strip Run (lan d rush) in 1893. He tried to homestead on Bear Creek, bu t a "boomer " threatened him with a gun. He didn't think the land was worth th e chance of his being killed over it, so he left the property to th e aggressor. Location of homestead: go east from Morrison toward Pawn ee, Oklahoma. The pro perty is on the right toward the creek.
