Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic church, Marty, for Bernard 'Barny' Garding, 72, who died Saturday at St. Cloud Hospital.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Ertl Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Watkins followed by Holy Cross Men's Society prayer service at 8:30.
Bernard Garding was born in Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County, to Nicholas and Mary (Mohs) Garding. He married Irene Haus on May 31, 1949, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marty. He farmed in Maine Prairie Township all his life. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was active with its men's society.
Survivors in-clude his wife; sons and daughters, Elmer, Virgil and Donna of St. Cloud, John, Joseph and Renee of Kimball, Vernon of Sheridan, Wyo., Ann Eldred and Daniel of Luxemburg, Doris Goerger of St. Joseph, and Lisa Pauls of St. Nicholas; 25 grandchildren; sisters, Viola Rothstein of Kimball, Marcella Decker of Cold Spring, Louise Thul of Albany, Dorothy Haus and Ann Koenig of St. Cloud; and twin sister, Bernadine Nordmann of Richmond. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
