I must tell you Joe Ruffing and famely are planning to spend Christmas with his mother and Grandmother and nick. I hear Marten shrader is in san antionio Florida. I seen a card he rote Mrs siger. he did not say any thing-about Pansy or Wilma. we ___ a real nice letter from Pauline and Franeis the first of the week thay are both feeling good. and I also got a letter from my Brother John, he told me a lettle about my Grandperents and my Father he sayed that he con not rember very much. my Father James Louis Tierman was Born in the Province of Corcaught county Mayo. South Ireland at the time of the Famime his folks last mearly all of thare fortune. the Irish Peaple died by the Millions nothing to eat and no way to get away. my Grand Perents and famely managed to come to the United States. there was 7 Boys and two Girls at the time my Father was quite young I only know two fo my Uncles and two annts on my Fathers side uncle Peter and Marks Mamie and Secelia and o my Mothers side I know My Grandmotner Tierman and two uncils James and John and my annt Katie. Thay all got jobs saved there money and was soon well of again. my Father was 21 when the Civil war was declared . he enlisted served about three years. receive his Horonable Discharge from Washington. he had lots of shrering tingling thrill and tribulations and hardships. half starved most of the time and and half clothed shoes would wear out then thay would rap rags around there feet. of the commandent offiee that he was under he liked Billy Sherman and John A. Logan. the High rank General was U.S. Grant he did not like hem very good for the reason he was not considerate of his men my Father often told us of when his Division Band would play marching through Georgia. the men could not all hear it but the men would say the words and it would seem like the Earth would trumble when thay would all joine in the corus. and when the union soldren's marched in to Nashvill Tennessee and Chattanooga. I thought of my Dads war day when I stoped so longe thane. I think thaare last Battle was in alanta Geo and from there to Savanna was there march to the sea with there favorite General Billy Sherman and his Bonny Boys in Blue. I remember a longe time ago in Ioua the contery was new and there was a lot of braking sod for farms in every conceviable shapes it would be hard get the exact acers. there would be lots of dispunts about how mamy acers in the field. but when my Father did the measure or survey the field's everybody would be satesfide for he would get every fraction that was there. I wote Mary and Matt to help me to remember our Fathers early life. I have not heard from them yet. my Brother John did pretty well to rememmber the part of Ireland my GrandPerents and famely came from. I can not think of anything more.
