I will tell et as my mother told me
I was Born 2 a.m. October 25-1863 as my syster only leved 4 days and was not Babticed they rushed me off to be Babticed the same day--I was Babticed at one oklock. When I was 16 weeks old I got smallpox I had et very bad for 3 days the expected me to Die every minuet the 3 days the turned me with the sheet I lay on, as they culd not tutch ne with ther hands the fidd me with a fether just like a dropper I was week a long tim I culd hadly walk at 2 years. mother larned me my a.B.C. as we had a long way to school. I went sum at 7. Dad got sick in harvest 1873 and lingerd along to May 1874 when he Died, Brother johan he Died the next year 1875 of Depteria, then mother had to plan the work after father Died and I had to help what I culd,
I herdet catle for 3 monts in the fall for 2 years and other leight work in 1876 mother hired men to put up peet for winter fuel and she tought culd spread et her selv with my help, et was to mutch for her, that made her afull tierd, we workt at that for two days, when we went home about a 1/2 or 3/4 of a mile she gave out, near to home, she had to lean on me the last I had to carry her all moost, I had to undress her, and get her to bed, she got pnumonea she lasted 4 day, she Died the 6 of July 1876.
father had apointed a gardian for oss kids before he Died, now he had to lock after oss, he tuck me, and found a place for syster he had to pay for her keps, cloting, and schooling she was there for 8 years, I had to quite school and go to work, even work with mem in the feild, on Decmber Elevent is Butcher day in genral there.
The sent me after a women to help, wi had , had a big snow so et was hard to get through only on the road, I tuck that going there, I told Mrs. my arend, she prommis to com, and I went back but tock a short cut, so when she got there she followed the road, the askt for me, I had not got back, and the figurd I had taken the short cut and got stuck sum wher on the road, all hands 8 of them, wi had a 3 fot stone fence around the orchard, the all tuck the path over the fence, but the Boy he walkt sout on the snow and was a litle behind the others he stumeld on my feet he says here he is, the com and got out of there, I most have jumpt on the fence and stumeld, as I fell head first, drove in the lent of me, I had bin there a long time wad badly froz the draned the frost out with snow the got et out, but when warm wather cam in spring com my wright ankle brock out and small peses of bone com out, then my left hip and thy started rottaway did not ake but just rotaway I lay on the orchag nights and days all summer and fall to et got cold then et healed up and filled out so I culd try to walk, by xmas,
I culd feed the cattle and the kids wold help me clean the Barn, after that I gained fast and by april 4 was my old self. I beleved , so I askt father as I caled my gardian to let me go and se my Brothers he did not like that, but let me go I went and seen them, then I hierd out to a farmer near Guttenborg all I culd get was Board and sum clothing,. the ware fine folks, I had told what I had ben trough then when warm wather com there blackned sum spots as larg as a 1/2 Dollar the fell out clean into the bone, when the found out the sent one to Doctor, I was with three difarent Doctors the wold burn my sors with castie and clean the sors that way. the wold heal up and others wold drop out then Mr Olson tryed to get me in a hospetal and was to go. Mrs. aske Olson to take me to an old famley Doctor first beforsending me on train, when he Examen me, he says there was no need to send my to a hospelal, what I has was just, I had ben forechild, and had not ben treated wright, and he culd fix me up. so he gave me sum medicin to take in , a table spoon before meals. et soon started to dry up the sors, just one fell out after starting tuck the medecine all togeter there fell out 26 peeses.my left thy form knee to hip, on outside is all scars, a got well, and et has not botherd me sins I stayed with olson 3 and 1/2 years then
I moved to Gutenborg I was there to 1887 when I started to ramble, I was on the lakes for a time then betwin fineland and England with timber, thats on Baltic 2 trips, then on the atlantic 3 trips, all on 4 mast ships (fulrigger) then I got on a steemer and was down to medeterania, genoa Italy marsels and lili France, was there a mount or batre then we cam to U.S. agin feb 1889 then I guitt the Sea, I cam to _____bolt Iowa, I work there two years 1889-90, then I was in cedar C O nebraska 1891 then I com to gregory C. O. that fall tuck up land south of Bonesteel madefinal move 1900, allwis farmed and deald in stock of sume kind, 1894-95 was aful dry 94 particularly, then we had fine crops from 1897 to 1920 sum years was less but fair, no had winds then like now in 1898 I had fine farvest the Rye was uncommenly fine et was fat tall, & raiced the Birrder as hy as I culd, to cut et as short as posible my teen was wild horses just broke that year, I went in betwen thes to reety one et scard them the ran away and dragd over me and brock my wright thy bone et tuck me 10 weeks to get et healed the had a lot of irons tied to hold my leg wrigh lent, then when I got up I styst and brock the acriffen and I did not have et reesatt as I shuld, therfor et is over one inch short, at that et made me no trvble, before 1915 then et started to hurting but I had to start with one cane in 1921 then that cold winter of 33-34 et shifted to my good leg, I used 2 cans to I had the stroke.

I com ence farming agen 1900 my leg was good now, then in 1905 I rented the land oud and went back on a visit I traveled all over sweden and norway stayd in England 2 weeks, was with systers famley a good deall, I tuck Gus with me back we went to Copenhagen Denmark to get the Boat to U. S. and we had to stay there, 8 days before et com, we know et wold not be there at once, we paned to have time to se the city, we got awa hadafine trip we went to St Paule minaesota Gus. had a onkle there to vusut I visit ume cossins two girls the ware married and leved on farms I got addres, but by sume fool lock I lost et, we got here in October Gus. got work with a swed thatborn here but talkt Swedish good so he got a start, I was fooling arond for sume trades and planed a telephone line fom Fairfax to Ft. randel by my place, but befor that materialiced I got on sum land sales cuntined on no.9

I think I will get soue paper and practis up sume I have found thats a good pass time, I site around the house moosly all the time I just get the maile in the mornig, and read the papers and lysson to the radio thats all I have bin to charlys 2 times this year I have not ben to Burke thiss year have lots of chances to go but dont care for et , the ar very nice to me hare thats one reson I beleev I bought my homestade, and we fext that up, afer I got back I organiced the first farmers telephoon c.o. in gregory C.O. wi Built et that winter, then when wi had the most work don I went out and got shaeholders for a line south of Bonesteel we ar on that line, I hired the work don, I helpt to install sum phoons sum tims I get shars for one line north of Bonesteel this was 1907, then I tradet for a farm south of Gregory then I let Gus farm at Bonesteel, and to carlock and Brock that farm and seedet et, had a good harvest, that fall I started to Buid ther I put up small barn and ganery the in 1909 I had a hause 28x28 built there that is the only good hous I ever had Build th other had sum kingd of a house so I put up Barns ganeris hog houses and other like fences wells, I Bought the last house all Built just moved on the place and fext et up sum I got me a 30 X 60 gas tractor and plows to Brack prari with and Separator so I culd trashing I dona lot of both and neade som money besids my own work then sold machin 1917 I had plenty to do I had several farms to look after in th spring of 1919 I made sum very god sales of land there when I went wrong, I figgured I culd mak annother 20,000 and I wold quet, so I layd in a lot of land att Big figgurs et comence to stall I wold not let go I tuck what I had and paid intrest and taxes, and et got wors every year, my money run out, I had to let go one peace after the other, to I had only the carlock 1/2 section left, I had $5,000 left from the garage money, I spent that there for Buildings and wather, then started started the bad years the grain wort nothing then no rain hot winds and grashoppers 1933 we had to sell the hogs no grain raised to feed them 1934 we had nothing of anny kind the govermen helpt oss out the Bought our catle for $12.00 to $20.00 for cows and big steers, then down to $4.00 for yung ones, I keept 10 head cows I had a hard time to get feed for them th cost me 3 time what the ware worth by spring, Chas was at lead that year, so I don what I culd, he got there when et was too late for for anny help, not muth he culd don anny way but that put ne dow to all moost nothing, you was ther you sen how bad et was et you rember then I hat the stroke that finnihd me, no need to say annyting about that, only I was to blame for the howl desaster, I undoutedly had to be in et will or no will, so there. if you get anny sence out of these et tel the worst serius of my lifes hapinings, there is a lot of minor tings that takes a long time talk about but not so importan I went down to Chas. the Elevent and filled up a grip, as I have had my trunk there all the time , but culd not get et to town before Sunday
