Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley for Roman N. Meyer, 88 of Litchfield and formerly of Eden Valley who died Sunday at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield. Rev. Virgil Braun, Rev. Francis Garvey & Rev. Al Ludwig will concelebrate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Dingmann's Eden Valley Funeral Home. Eden Valley Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by Litchfield Knights of Columbus Bishop P.J. Casey Council # 2029 praying at 6:30 p.m., parish prayers at 7:00 p.m., and Eden Valley American Legion Post # 381 praying at 7:30 p.m. all Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Eden Valley.
Roman was born October 9, 1915 in Richmond to Peter & Lena (Rothstein) Meyer. He married Coletta Meyer on November 20, 1939 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. He was an Army veteran of WWII. The couple lived in Eden Valley until 1956, they moved to North East Minneapolis. They moved back to Eden Valley in 1978. He is a member of the Eden Valley American Legion, Eden Valley Senior Citizens, Assump-tion Catholic Church, Litchfield Knights of Columbus. He was a boiler operator and worked for the Eden Valley Creamery and Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley and then F.M.C. in North East Minneapolis until retiring in 1978. He spent many retirement days fishing.
Survivors include his wife Coletta, of Litchfield; daughter, Mary Alice (Dale) Kalkbrenner of Litchfield; sons, Richard (Yvonne), Ralph (Kathy) both of North East Minneapolis; brother, Ambrose, sisters, Clara Mackendanz, Pauline Dockendorf all of Cold Spring; 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leander, Raymond, and Isadore Meyer, sisters Irene Nordman, Leona Schaefer.
