Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Leona Schaefer, 91, who died Tuesday at Paynesville Area Healthcare. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond. Richmond Seniors and Sts. Peter and Paul Christian Women will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. today followed by parish prayers at 8.
Leona Schaefer was born in Richmond to Pete and Magdalena (Rothstein) Meyer. She married Aloys Schaefer on March 28, 1940, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Christian Women.
Survivors include her son, James of Dubois, Wyo.; brothers and sisters, Roman of Eden Valley, Pauline Dockendorf and Ambrose of Cold Spring, and Clara Mackedanz of Richmond; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 29, 1980; brothers and sister, Isadore, Ray, Leander and Irene; and one granddaughter.
