NEWPORT - Kenneth E. Ramsey, 67, died Oct. 27 at his residence on Shaw St. He was born in Smyrna Mills, Dec. 26, 1904, the son of Weldon and Ardra (Estabrook) Ramsey. He attended Fairfield schools and graduated from Lawrence High School. On March 29, 1930, he married Bertha Pinkham and they moved from Waterville to Newport in 1942. He had been employed by the American Express Co. in Waterville and Newport for many years, retiring in 1949. At the time of his death he was employed as a dispatcher for the town of Newport. Mr. Ramsey was a past secretary of Meridian Splendor Lodge, a member of the St. Omar Commandery, Waterville, and was an honorary member of the Newport Fire Department. He attended the High Street Congregational Church. He is survived by his wife of Newport; one son, Paul Ramsey of Hanover; two daughters, Mrs. Joan Small of Carmel and Mrs. David Phyllis Marley of Portland, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the High Street Congregational Church. Masonic services will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Crosby-Neal Funeral Home, Newport, where friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.Endnotes
