NEWPORT, Oct. 12 - Weldon E. Ramsey, 78, died in a Dexter hospital today after a long period of failing health. He was born in Middleton, Feb. 19, 1873, sono of Isaiah and Phoebe (Auber) Ramsey. He attended the schools at Littleton and Lowell, Mass., where he worked for a time. He married Ardra E. Estabrook of Dyer Brook in 1903. Mrs. Ramsey died about two years ago. He operated a store in Smyrna Mills for a time, later moving to Charleston, where he farmed and served as a selectman. He had resided in Newport for the past nine years. He is survived by his son, Kenneth E. of Newport; two granddaughter, a grandson; two sisters, Mrs. A. Archibald of South Orrington and Mrs. Lillian Everett of Norridgewock; and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Farnham funeral chapel, Eric W. Bascom, pastor of the High Street Union church, officiating. Burial will be in West Charleston.Endnotes
