Obituary
Donald S. Adams, 84, passed away July 22, 2010, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Houlton, son of Chester L. and Elva B. (Smith) Adams. Don attended the one-room schoolhouse on Foxcroft Road, Littleton, where he was taught by his aunt, Rena Adams Lucey. He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute, Class of 1943. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Don married Margaret "Hannah" Levesque April 8, 1947. He was the fifth generation to work the family farm in Littleton. Don continued to work in the farming industry until 1984, when he and Hannah moved to South Carolina. In 1986 he moved to Bangor where he worked then retired. Don enjoyed gardening, bowling and attending the University of Maine, Orono, sports events. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret "Hannah" (Levesque) Adams, Nov. 23, 1991. Surviving are six children, Janice Adams Fetter and her husband, Arthur, of Chino Valley, Ariz., Brenda Sturdivant and her husband, Barry, of Norway, Gale Cote and her husband, Gary, of Veazie, Paul Adams and his wife, Janet, of Littleton, Mass., Robert Adams and his wife, Jacqueline, of Topsham and Patrick Adams of Newburgh; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mount, Kimberley Adams, Ryan and Sara Adams, and Dalton Adams; two great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Adrianna Mount; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, at St. Paul the Apostle, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Interment with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
